Senior Software Engineer

Job Summary

We are looking for an outstanding software engineer who will be responsible for successfully designing, coding, implementing and deploying the company’s core products.

This includes our brand new homestay.com webapp, the homestaymanager.com service, and niftyschool.com.

This is a fantastic opportunity to join a young and dynamic startup and work with a group of talented individuals with an exceptional track record of delivering web applications and large scale/high traffic architectures.

The ideal candidate is a brilliant problem solver, self starter and excellent communicator who possesses a passion for great software and user experiences.

You will also be part of a company that is revolutionizing the travel sector and creating a new way to experience travel (and we have a table tennis table)!

Required skills:

  • Strong and effective inter-personal and communication skills
  • Ability to solve problems quickly and completely
  • A solid understanding of object oriented design and design patterns
  • Ability to multi-task and stay organized in a dynamic work environment
  • Possess a positive attitude
  • Proven proficency in Ruby/Ruby On Rails, Javascript, Ajax
  • Ability to work both on front end and back end
  • Ability to implement solid user interfaces (HTML, CSS, JQuery)
  • Proficient with Git/GitHub/Git-Process
  • Write clear and easy-to-read code
  • Ability to write RSpec tests & and do TDD/BDD
  • Ability to learn quickly new techniques/libraries

Optional:

  • Experience with NoSQL databases
  • Experience with high traffic architectures, eg: cashing, sharding, distributed systems
  • Experience with Puppet (puppetlabs.com)
  • Experience with internationalization
  • Entrepreneurial mindset, full of ideas and suggestions on how to make the company better
  • Experience in travel/hotel/booking websites

Salary: €55-75k depending on experience.
